About Ms. Ruth’s

Ms. Ruth’s started in a small building in downtown Shannon in 2003.

With hard work and determination, the business soon began to flourish and grow regular clientele. Four years later, it was apparent that a change was in order to serve more customers. It was then that the remodeling of the building that was previously Billy’s Britches in Verona, MS, took place. The larger building near the Verona industrial park, only minutes from Tupelo, was able to handle the increase in business. The Diner had seating for up to 100 people in the midst of its cozy, eclectic decor.

After years of establishing a reputation of wonderful southern home cooking and friendly atmosphere, Ms. Ruth’s took another step forward and opened a second location inside the Gloster Creek Village, now renamed Midtown Pointe, in Tupelo, MS. Based on the tried and true recipes, Ms. Ruth’s Express was born August, 2009. The first Ms. Ruth’s in Verona closed in 2013 so that she could take over the Express in Tupelo. The Express helps meet the need of busy customers who are looking for quick, home cooked meals. They are a cafeteria-style restaurant, giving you a choice between 2 entrees, 7 sides, cornbread, rolls, cobblers/pies, and great sweet tea. Taking in the requests of their customers, they now offer salads, baked potatoes, and make sure there are at least 2 low carbohydrates veggies each day.

Ms. Ruth’s also offer frozen casseroles and desserts to take home and bake. They are the same delicious Ms. Ruth’s recipes that you can serve hot and fresh to your family. They’re perfect for parties, holidays, a gift to a dear friend in need, or just simply when life makes it to busy to cook.

We hope you come by our Tupelo location to try us out and taste for yourself the home cooked goodness that we call Ms. Ruth’s!
